Mali’ Buku-Ruŋanmaram won the Australian Society of Archivists Mander Jones Prize last week. The book documents collections of material culture from Arnhem Land held in the University of Sydney Archives, in particular photographs of Miliŋinbi and surrounds. ARC Indigenous Fellow Dr Joseph Neparrŋa Gumbula, a liya-ŋärra’mirri (learned, wise) Yolŋu elder and a leading authority on material culture from Arnhem Land chose and described the photos in the book.

Ecologies of invention, our new book launched last week by Robyn Williams from ABC Radio National’s The Science Show, examines origins, approaches and attitudes towards inventiveness across the disciplines, including art, architecture, design, history, engineering, science, law and economics. As Marc Newson, designer of the famous Lockheed Lounge, points out in the Foreword, Ecologies of invention ‘makes an important contribution to our understanding of that “light bulb” moment of realisation or invention that takes place across all disciplines’.
